EMIS Update: Data Appeal/Review & Verification – August 21, 2023

FY23 Summer 3rd Grade Reading Data Appeal Open
From Monday, Aug. 21 through Friday, Aug. 25, districts may appeal their FY23 summer 3rd grade reading data. 
 
The superintendent, EMIS coordinator, and superintendent designee all can access and fill out the data appeal forms. However, the forms are not officially submitted to the Department until the superintendent approves the form to complete the process.

​​​​​​FY23 Funding Data Appeal Now Open
From Monday, Aug. 21 through Friday, Sept. 1, treasurers and superintendents may appeal FY23 funding data.
 
For more information about this data appeal, timeline, and completion process for treasurers and superintendents, visit the EMIS Data Appeals webpage. For questions regarding data appeals, contact the Department's Office of Data Quality.
 
​FY23 Data Appeals for Child Outcome Summary Assessment and Early Learning Assessment Opening Soon
Starting on August 28, districts may appeal the following FY23 data:
  • Child Outcome Summary Assessment
  • Early Learning Assessment

FY23 Report Card Data Review and Verification Open
From Monday, Aug. 21 through Friday, Sept. 8, superintendents must complete a required review of their 2023 student, assessment, calendar, staff, course, and exiting student follow-up data reported in EMIS. Superintendents must signify whether these data are accurate as they complete and submit the 2023 Data Review for the Report Card form.  

EMIS Data Review and Verification forms are part of EMIS reporting described in Ohio Revised Code 3301.0714. Superintendents are legally required to review and certify the quality of data, as noted in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-14-01 (G). Failing to complete the process may trigger progressive sanctions as outlined in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-17.
