Regional and State Road-e-o Competitions- October 2026

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, school bus drivers from across the state of Ohio will participate in the Regional School Bus Safety Road‑E‑O competitions. The top six drivers from each region will advance to the State School Bus Safety Road‑E‑O, which will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Berlin High School, located at 3140 Berlin Station Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Drivers who place in the top six at the state event will have the opportunity to advance to the International School Bus Safety Competition held in Austin, Texas, June 26-27, 2027. 

The School Bus Safety Road‑E‑O program is designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of each driver’s operational and driving skills. These events emphasize the importance of safe and effective school transportation while offering a structured, professional environment for skill development, while  adding a fun, competitive element focused on promoting safe school transportation.

Drivers may fulfill the driving skills component of their certification requirements by participating in a regional and/or state School Bus Driver Safety Road‑E‑O. To meet this requirement, drivers must earn a minimum of 80 percent of the total possible points and complete the competition within their current six‑year certification cycle, in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 3301‑83‑10(G)(6). All remaining qualification requirements for school bus drivers must be satisfied prior to submitting an application for a renewal certificate.
