Common Application for List of Approved Assessments

The Department is releasing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for vendors wishing to be included on the 2026-2027 List of Approved Assessments in the following areas: 

  • Alternative Standardized Assessments for Grades 3-8 (Alt 3-8) for Chartered Nonpublic Schools  
  • ​Alternative High School Assessments for Graduation (Alt HS) for Chartered Nonpublic Schools  
  • High Quality Student Data (HQSD)  
  • Gifted Prescreening and Identification (Gifted Assessment)  
This RFQ provides a common application by which vendors may submit qualifications for tests in each of these areas. The Department particularly seeks those vendors with assessment tools that can fulfill multiple purposes. The resulting approved list will assist districts in selecting tools that will maximize their use of time and resources and provide high educational value. 
 

The Department seeks full applications from vendors not currently listed on the 2025-2026 List of Approved Assessments. Those vendors on the 2025-2026 list will receive instructions on how to maintain their approval. 

Important Dates

  • File Share Request form open: December 5, 2025-January 5, 2026
  • Informational Call for Vendors: December 11, 2025, at 2:15 p.m. EST – Registration is required
  • Recommended submission date: December 19, 2025, by 4:00 p.m. EST
  • Submission deadline: January 5, 2026 by 9:00 a.m. EST

K-3 Reading Diagnostics: Application for Approved Assessments

Under a recent change to Ohio law, the Department of Education and Workforce must revise its current approved list of K-3 reading diagnostic assessments to include no more than five reading diagnostic assessments for administration in the 2026-2027 school year.
 

The revised list must include three currently approved K-3 reading diagnostic assessments that were the most used statewide prior to Sept. 30, 2025. The Department has identified those as the following:

  • I-Ready Assessment
  • NWEA MAP Growth
  • Acadience Reading K-6/Acadience Reading K-6 (formerly DIBELS Next)

The Department is releasing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to identify two additional K-3 reading diagnostic assessments for the 2026-2027 school year.  Please review the RFQ Document to determine eligibility to apply for approval.

K-3 Mathematics Diagnostics: Application for Approved Assessments

The Department is releasing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to identify up to five K-3 mathematics diagnostic assessments for administration in the 2026-2027 school year. Vendors wishing to submit applications for approval should review the RFQ Document.
