Early Learning and Development Standards 2022-2023
Early Learning and Development Standards
The new Early Learning and Development Standards were adopted by the State Board of Education on June 14, 2022. To provide a transition time for programs and to allow time to develop supporting resources and trainings for implementing the new standards, ODE and ODJFS will accept alignment to either the new or former Early Learning and Development Standards from 6/15/2022 through 6/30/2023 for both curriculum and assessment.
ODE and ODJFS are working to finalize examples to accompany the standards, design electronic and hard copy versions and develop supporting resources. We expect to publish the new standards document this winter and have training available in the spring of 2023.
This is a culmination of more than a year of stakeholder input and revisions. In addition to two formal public comment opportunities, the standards were drafted and reviewed by more than 150 early care and education providers, technical assistance providers, content experts, state agency staff and other stakeholders with subject-matter expertise. Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide their input during this process!
The board approved the domains, standard statements and indicators. If you would like a preview of the new standards, the board approved document is available in the board book. Please note this does not include any examples or supporting text to help understand and implement the new standards. We will send an announcement when additional resources are available and they will be posted on this page.
