EmpowerVetEd: Supporting Military in Educator Prep Programs Grant

In 2024, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) partnered with the Department of Veteran Services to issue a competitive grant for institutions of higher education. The grant aims to provide financial incentives and assistance to eligible military individuals, as defined in section 3319.285 of the Revised Code, to enroll in and complete an educator preparation program approved under section 3333.048 of the Revised Code.

Where does funding come from?

This grant is funded under FY 2024 and FY 2025 appropriations (HB 33, 135th GA Section 265.120(B)).

This award recognizes educator prep programs dedicated to empowering our nation’s service members, veterans, and their spouses to become educators.

EmpowerVetEd Grant

The Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) in partnership with the Department of Veteran Services, created the EmpowerVetEd grant to eliminate barriers for military personnel and their spouses to enroll in and complete and educator prep program. This grant helps increase the educator pipeline and bolster workforce readiness.
